Hargate Updates
We have been cracking on with changes and improvements within the Hall and grounds.
The turret room of castleton has been redecorated and has lost the mezzanine. It has gained a 4 poster bed and new carpet and a coat of paint.
The toilet in Balmoral that never seemed to work properly has been replaced.
The doors of the garden entrance to the Hall have been replaced. There is a damp issue in the little porch there, so I have not touched up the plaster around the door until that is sorted.
We have fitted a new stair carpet on the main hall stairs and also in the upstairs corridor.
We have excavated the old HaHa (a trench and sunken wall to keep deer out) and the soil that has been removed has been leveled out and forms the base of the new marquee site.
Our plans to change eyam have had to stop as the building regs requirements would have made this into a mammoth task which would not really be viable.

Update on the Marquee
We have now bought the marquee! (Pictured is the marquee in its original site having been kitted out by one of our wedding couples). We have now started leveling a new site for it to go on. We are working on how to heat it. Rather than going for the traditional gas or diesel space heaters we are hoping to link it up to the Heat Pump that we are buying for the main building which is more than up to the job. As with everybody we are noticing the substantial increase in costs of oil and electricity so we are starting to put in anything we can to help reduce heating and hot water costs. A real challenge as Hargate Hall is an old building!

Marquee
In order to further our goal of offering very good value to those booking Hargate Hall for weddings and other large parties, we have now purchased our own marquee. Now we just have to flatten an area to put it! This should be done in the early part of 2009.

booking up fast
Although we have only had our civil wedding licence for a short time, word seems to be spreading fast. Nearly 20 weekends have been booked for 2009 so far, and with the number of people we are showing around, we are seing this rising all the time. So if you want to book your wedding at Hargate Hall and want a specific date you need to be acting now!
